Festival of Ethnic Communities to be held this Saturday

The Festival of Ethnic Communities, which was supposed to take place on September 15, but which was postponed due to the heavy rain, will take place this Saturday, October 12. The event will start with the laying of flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephen the Great and Holy and a parade of the folk costume, followed by a visit to the Big House, a symbol of traditional culture. The official inauguration will take place in the central park of Chisinau, IPN reports.

The festival entitled “Unity through Diversity” is at its 23rd edition. “Folk costumes, traditional dances, thematic exhibitions, possibilities for multicultural dialogue, culinary delights and many other intercultural offers are awaiting all those who want to get to know the cultures of the ethnic communities of the Republic of Moldova,” said the Chisinau City Hall.

Those interested in cultural diversity will be able to visit 15 ethnic courtyards that will present the particularities and ethnocultural values, the exhibition-fair of handicrafts, master-classes in the gastronomic area.

The municipality noted that the event aims to valorize and perpetuate the traditions of ethnic communities as well as to develop intercultural dialogue, strengthen friendship relations between representatives of different ethnic groups living in the Republic of Moldova.
