Fewer thefts in Chisinau
The number of thefts in the first 5 months of this year in Chisinau dropped by about 14.9%. Instead, thefts of car parts rose 45% nationwide, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“1854 thefts have been registered this year in Chisinau, and a large part of them were uncovered. Compared to the similar period of last year, 763 less cases have been registered, that is a drop by 14.9%,” Neo Tudor Capatana, the press officer from the Police Commissariat, told Info-Prim.
According to Capatana, they steal everything, but they prefer apartments, animals and car spare parts.
In the country during the first 5 months 4,366 thefts have been recorded, of which 2,747 cases were uncovered.
Under the Penal Code, thieves risk to be fined 600 lei, or 120-240 hours of work for the community, or 7 years of jail.
