Health protection is a very important sector and the shortage of financial resources shouldn’t be a barrier to its reformation, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said while on a visit to the Ministry of Health, where a meeting with decision makers in healthcare took place, Info-Prim Neo reports. Another problem discussed in the meeting was the price and quality of the drugs. The Premier expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the reform is implemented in this sector. “We asked that the reform of the Medication Agency be worked out as soon as possible. We consider that the administration of this Agency and the head of the Ministry of Health’s Medication Service should be replaced,” said Vlad Filat. Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi said the medical system can be improved by creating ten regional hospitals so that the people do not have to go to Chisinau for certain medical examinations. He informed that 126 settlements experience shortages of medical personnel. According to the minister, there are formulated amendments to the legislation aimed at combating corruption and protectionism. Vlad Filat announced that he will make a similar visit to another ministry on March 31. Last week, the Premier said he intends to inspect the ministries to see how they implement reforms in the areas of which they are in charge.
