Pedestrians crossing the street irregularly may be fined up to 300 lei. The National Patrol Inspectorate announces that it will intensify activities pertaining to pedestrian discipline, IPN reports.

Since the beginning of the year, due to pedestrians crossing the street in unauthorized places, 297 road accidents occurred, resulting in 46 deaths and 256 injured victims. IPN specifies that, in all these cases, pedestrians mistakenly believed that the drivers should have noticed them and should have managed to put the brake on just in time.

Pedestrians are warned that the street should only be crossed in authorized places. Special attention is required at night, when it is raining, snowing or foggy, because the visibility is low. On the wet road, the braking distance grows exponentially.
