Two persons were killed in a villa fire not far from Botnaresti village of Anenii Noi district in the evening of June 4, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the firefighters were called by a neighbor at 23.20. The fire extended on an area of about 30 square meters. In about 30 minutes, it was localized and there were discovered two carbonized bodies - of a man aged 66 and of a woman aged 50.
Contacted by IPN, sources in the mayor’s office of Cobusca Noua village, which manages the villa district, said the fire was caused by a smoldering cigarette. It quickly engulfed the house that was made from wood. The man and woman lived together and often drank alcohol.
The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service warns about the necessity of respecting the anti-fire norms so as to avoid fires with fatal consequences.
