Washing off and dismantling works were performed at the place of the fire on Puskin St of Chisinau in the morning of August 12. Specialists of the anti-fire experimental lab are to find out the cause of fire with which the firemen struggled for over four hours.

Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan has told IPN that the flames covered an area of over 400 square meters of the building’s roof. When the fire was reported last night, there were no persons in the offices on the upper floors, but the two restaurants located on the first floor and in the basement had visitors. These and the employees were evacuated.

Even if only the roof was destroyed, some officers were flooded during the fire extinguishing operation. The people who came to work this morning weren’t allowed to enter. A young man whose office is on the second floor said practically all his belongings were destroyed. Another employee said it is impossible to stay in the building owing to the water that leaked and to the unpleasant smell.

The building on Pushkin St, which houses the restaurants “Vatra Neamului” and “La Taifas”, caught fire last night. The call to 901 was made close to midnight. Initially, nine firefighting teams were sent to the scene. Additional teams joined these later. Nobody was hurt.
