Firearms instructor arrested on influence peddling charges

A firearms instructor at Dinamo Sporting Club was arrested together with a suspected accomplice on charges of influence peddling, Info-Prim Neo learned from an Anticorruption Center's press release. In September 2011, the man allegedly asked for a 7,000 euro bribe claiming that he could influence experts at the Forensics Center to make changes in a death certificate. A month later, he asked a further 2,000 euros. Some time later, the Anticorruption Center arrested a Riscani district criminal police inspector on suspicion of being involved in the crime. Under the Moldovan legislation influence peddling is punishable by 3 to 7 years' imprisonment or a fine ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 lei.
