The first 200,000 doses of antiviral drugs will get to Moldova this evening. The medications have been purchased from Switzerland and will be distributed through the agency of sanitary institutions, Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu said during a meeting at the Government, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Residents will travel to the villages where there are no doctors and will monitor the pandemic flu situation there, the minister said.
Vladimir Safta, first deputy director of the Medication Agency, said the drugstores have about 6.200 packs of Tamiflu and 230,000 packs of drugs against seasonal flu in stock.
Safta also said that only about 5,000 protection masks are available in warehouses. The people got into a panic when the number of pandemic flu cases increased and started to purchase masks. Thus, their price rose from 1 leu to 19.80 lei for masks with protection screen for eyes.
Over 1.100 million masks will be distributed to the drugstores this week. Vladimir Safta said the economic entities have already signed contracts for the supply of masks and the masks will come to Moldova in several days.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat instructed the head of the anticorruption center Mihai Chetraru and the director of the Customs Service Viorel Melnic to check how the prices of medications are formed. He said that the Medication Agency will be also inspected.
Victor Cerevatyi, the head of Briceni district, asked that the vacation for the schools and kindergartners be extended by one more week. Vlad Filat said the proposal will be discussed at the Government's meeting.
