First candidate for chairman of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences has been nominated
Academician Gheorghe Duca has been named as candidate for chairman of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) for a second term. His current term-of-office is due to expire on February 20 next year.
The candidacy was put forward by the senior coordinator of ASM’s Biology, Chemistry and Ecology Department, Academician Ion Toderas, and was backed by other fellows, including Teodor Furdui, Tatiana Constantinov, Andrei Negru, Alexandru Ciubotaru, Andrei Ursu, as well as habilitated doctors Tudor Lupascu, Mihail Revenco, and others.
“The programme for the reformation and development of the areas of sciences and innovations that has been promoted and carried out by ASM Chairman Gheorghe Duca gives us the right to filed him for a second term, in hope that he will continue his reforms in the mentioned areas, given that the researching activity has become a real propeller of development for the society”, Ac. Ion Toderas said.
The Supreme Council for Science and Technological Development of the Academy has initiated the election procedure for ASM Chairman on November 20. No other candidates than Gheorghe Duca hasn’t been nominated so far.
