First deputy prosecutor general named

At the suggestion of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors, Eduard Harunjen was appointed as first deputy prosecutor general. Under the law on the prosecution service, the first deputy prosecutor and the deputy prosecutors are named by the prosecutor general for a five-year period, based on the recommendations of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) said that Eduard Harunjen, 43, started his career in the prosecution bodies in 1994. In time he held posts at the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office, the posts of head of the Prosecution Control Division and of prosecutor for special missions at the PGO. In August 2013, he was named anticorruption prosecutor and has held this post until now.

He was awarded the chest insignia “Eminent employee of the prosecution service” and the medal “For impeccable service”, first class. He now holds the rank of legal councilor of the first level.
