First Engraving Biennale in Chisinau

An Engraving Biennale will be held for the first time in Chisinau from May 5 to 17. The contest-exhibition is organized by the Fine Artists Union from Moldova (FAU) to promote engraving works, Info-Prim Neo reports. The contest has been announced by the FAU for all the artists. The deadline to submit the works is April 30, 2009. The expo can be joined by FAU members and students from fine arts faculties. “The engraving in our society is not paid the due attention. The engraving techniques are very expensive, so many FAU artists switched to painting and sculpture,” Valeriu Herta, the head of the engraving section of the FAU, has told Info-Prim Neo. “We want to enliven graving through this action. The exposition pursues to display and promote both classical techniques and personal techniques,” Vladimir Herta said. The exhibition will be inaugurated in the small hall of the Constantin Brancusi expo center in Chisinau.
