First public intervention center in ASD to be opened in September

A first public intervention center in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) will be opened in September, Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco has announced. The center will be a subdivision of the Republican Children’s Rehabilitation Center and will be equipped with all the necessary resources to offer free assistance to children with this condition, IPN reports.

Teams of professionals will provide personalized assessments and intervention programs, behavioral therapies, counseling and support for social and educational integration, as well as free psychological counseling services for family members. “We want a happy childhood for children with autism, their full integration into the social life and for the purpose we must offer them all our support,” said the minister.

Autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a serious disorder of normal developmental processes, affecting THE language and communication skills. Autism is not cured, but with intensive early intervention, some children with autism learn to lead somewhat independent lives in adulthood. World Autism Awareness Day is marked worldwide on April 2.
