First two cases of AH1N1 flu reported in Ungheni and Chisinau
A 26-year-old man from Ungheni district and a child of 4 from Chisinau were diagnosed with viral flu AH1N1. Doctors say such cases are typical of the period and the epidemiological situation is under control.
Petru Scoferta, head of the Viral and Respiratory Infections Laboratory, has told Info-Prim Neo that six cases of seasonal flu have been confirmed this year so far. Four of them are of type B, while two of type AH1N1.
Vice director of the National Scientific-Practical Center of Preventive Medicine Constantin Spinu said the flu that was identified in the county is ordinary seasonal flu. Since the start of this year, there have been collected 35 samples of blood from persons suspected of having flu. In six cases, the disease was confirmed. “The number of flu cases has increased slightly, but it will grow higher after February 20,” he stated
Constantin Spinu also said that flu is an unpredictable disease. The symptoms of flu types practically do not differ from each other. They include fever, headaches, pain in the eyes as well as pharyngitis, coughing, respiratory insufficiency, chest pain, and digestive problems.
The vaccination against flu should be done in the pre-epidemic period, in December. Those who want can be vaccinated now, but the vaccine will have an effect in 20 days.
Specialists recommend taking prophylaxis measures, including airing the rooms and washing the hands with soap. When the first symptoms appear, the person should wear a mask and ask for medical assistance at home.
