Flood-affected families in Cotul Morii can move in to new houses
Families in Cotul Morii village, Hancesti district, who lost their homes in floods last summer can finally move in to new houses. Pavel Caba, head of the Construction Employers Federation “Condrumat”, told Info-Prim Neo that the final receiving documents for houses would be transmitted to local authorities on July 1.
According to Pavel Caba, the acts of finalization of works for 500 of the 563 houses built in Cotul Morii have been signed. The rest are still under construction. The works were delayed because the decision of how many rooms should have each house was adopted only in December. This concerns the bigger houses with 4 or 5 rooms, the building of which began in May.
“Families were supposed to move in back in December. This would have avoided additional expenses. If people had moved in, the houses would have been heated. Instead, they refused and the plaster froze and molded. We had to cover all the additional work expenses from companies’ budget. People who have been built houses should show some decency. We can’t find them for half a year. They locked their homes and left”, the head of the Construction Employers Federation said.
Pavel Caba added that workers didn’t get their wages for two months. “The biggest problem is that nobody pays for these works. The contractual beneficiary, the Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions, claims the money must be provided by the Ministry of Finances. The latter says it has other priorities. I understand these priorities are wages, pensions, but we must avoid situations when workers could go on strike”, said Pavel Caba.
Minister of Regional Development and Constructions Marcel Raducan told Info-Prim Neo that there were no wage arrears for the companies working in Cotul Morii. “We have no debts. There are a few arrears in additional works that haven’t been foreseen in the budget. This is however the competence of the National Commission for Exceptional Situations”, the Minister said.
Pavel Caba informed that the cost of additional works was 20 million lei. “The cost of additional works is about 10 million lei, while another 10 million has been spent on buying materials. We didn’t receive any from Romania, because they had a shortage as well and we were allowed to buy materials from the local market”, explained Caba.
Last summer’s floods left hundreds of families without a home. The Government built new homes for 700 of them and bought houses for 70 others.
