Floodwaters left over 2,000 persons without shelter
The floods damaged over 1,000 houses and displaced more than 2,000 people. Most of the houses were flooded in Cotul Morii village of Hancesti district. The Government will built new houses for the flood victims from this village not far from Leuseni village. There will be erected at least 500 new houses, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a Government meeting on Monday, the head of Hancesti district Anatolie Chetraru said two companies own more than 15 hectares of the land where the new houses will be constructed. The other land is owned by locals. Chetraru proposed working out a land consolidation program so as to allot land to these persons in other places.
Premier Vlad Filat said the proposal will be discussed in more detail. He stated the construction works will begin this week.
According to Minister of the Interior Victor Catan, the floodwaters destroyed two bridges in Cotul Morii and Macaresti and damaged roads in Carpineni, Cotul Morii and Macaresti. There were flooded 4,800 hectares of crop fields, 1,120 hectares of private orchards and 4,108 hectares of pastures.
