The public television channel Moldova 1 Thursday will relate stories about Moldovan and Romanian people whose fate was changed by the flower bridge that was set up 20 years ago. The channels' director Angela Sarbu told Info-Prim Neo that they aim to underline again the importance of that event that did not change over time. Students, teachers, people of culture, mayors of border settlements will appear on TV and speak about that remarkable event.
The special programs will start to be broadcast early in the morning. In the program “Good morning, Moldova!” that starts at 07.00, Horia Gumeni and his invitees will speak about the significance of the event that took place 20 years ago. The program will be broadcast live in the Ungheni – Prut region. Angelei Sarbu said Romanian students who study in Moldova will take part in the program.
The program “The European Vector” will be broadcast live on Moldova 1 and TVR Iasi starting at 19.45. It will have as topic “The flower bridge 20 years later”. Among the invitees will be the rector of the Cahul-based State University Andrei Popa, the mayor of Ungheni Alexandru Ambros, Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Anatol Salaru and filmmaker Victor Bucataru.
According to Angela Sarbu, the idea of restoring the flower bridge between Romania and Moldova, this time through the agency of television, was put forward by the Romanian colleagues.
On May 6, 1990, Romanians from Romania and Moldova swam over the Prut River or crossed bridges over it in order to take part in the event “The Flower Bridge”. On that day, the frontier districts had been open between 06:00 and 18:00 and the people could cross the border only with the passport.
