“Force of Veterans” condemns Russia’s aggression against Ukraine

Members of the public organization “Force of Veterans” condemns Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. “The war veterans who fought for our country’s independence know the price of peace the best. We know how it is for a mother to lose her son, for a wife to lose her husband and for the children to lose their farther,” the organization’s leader Constantin Covrig stated in a news conference at IPN.

Constantin Covrig noted that the Nistru war veterans plead for peace and consider that being a patriot means lending a hand to those who need, paying taxes on time, combining forces when the country needs assistance.

“The Force of Veterans” welcomes the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe’s Resolution on Ukraine, with the amendment that recognizes the Transnistrian region as a “Russian-occupied territory”. The veterans also welcome Moldova’s application for EU membership. “Our place is in the family of European nations. We are Europeans and being only to Europe, to a highly-developed community,” stated Constantin Covrig.

Oleg Romanciuc, representative of the Nisporeni branch, said that the developments in Ukraine are a tragedy. The veteran called on the state institutions to take legal measures to punish those that incite hatred and try to destabilize the situation in the country. He welcomed the decision by the Prosecutor’s Office to take legal action over the aberrant public statements in support of the war.

Alexandru Andronic, veteran from Cahul, said the statements made by the so-called ‘patriots of Moldova’ on Thursday are condemnable. “Instead of calling on the population to unite, they incite hatred, divide society and support the war in which children, older people and innocent persons die”. “Their gesture is like betrayal of the country and nation,” stated the veteran.

Nicolae Leca, another representative of the organization, condemned “the groups of provocative agents who disguised themselves behind the screen of different political organizations, guided by the symbols of the aggressor country and propagandistic arguments of the Kremlin dreaming leader, who support the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is a crime to support the genocide, the destruction of a nation and a country, to support the killing of children, mothers and older persons. The responsible bodies should investigate and harshly penalize the individuals who urge destabilization, aggression and hatred and should call on society to unite in the name of peace.”

Prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases decided to examine the statements made by representatives of a Moldovan political party and an NGO in a news conference, about their support for the military actions in Ukraine, as propaganda warfare and actions aimed at inciting hatred and national, ethnic, racial or religious division.

The given news conference was held in the conference hall of IPN News Agency. Shortly after it, IPN eliminated the recordings of the conference from all its platforms.
