Foreign Ministry recommends Russia not to interfere in internal affairs of another state

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova expresses its surprise at the Russian Foreign Ministry’s commentary on the preliminary results of the June 5 elections in Moldova. The Ministry says it is regrettable that this commentary is based on incorrect information and tendentious publications, which do not reflect the real situation and do not represent the official position of the Central Election Commission, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry. “We hope the Foreign Ministry of Russia, it all its appraisals, will use only official facts that would avoid situations when such statements can be interpreted as interference in the internal affairs of a state or attempts to openly support an election runner,” it is said in the communiqué. As regards the organization and holding of free, fair and democratic elections, the Ministry said Moldova implements the standards of the Council of Europe and the OSCE, stressing that the election monitoring reports produced by representatives of these missions point to the progress made in holding free, fair and democratic elections in Moldova. On June 8, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement, expressing its regret at the fact that the June 5 local elections in Moldova were conducted with violations that were ignored by the central electoral authority and the observation missions.
