Former deputy minister of health refuses to give testimony in Radiology Equipment case

Former Deputy Minister of Health Boris Golovin, who is suspected of misconduct in office in the Radiology Equipment case, refused to give testimony to prosecution officers, arguing that the case was fabricated, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The Center says this is an attempt to avoid bearing responsibility as Boris Golovin earlier asked the prosecution officers to give him time to formulate his position. The case is to be finalized and sent to the prosecutors, who will decided whether to remit it to court or not. Boris Golovin is suspected of signing a number of payment orders on the basis of which the Ministry of Heath transferred the entire sum for the ordered radiology equipment to S&T Mold SRL beforehand, without checking the equipment. It was later established that the delivered equipment did not meet the contract conditions and damage of over 35 million lei was caused to the state budget. If the former deputy minister is charged and found guilty, he will be fined 6,000 to 16,000 lei or will be imprisoned for two to six years. In both of the cases, he will be banned from holding a particular post for up to five years.
