Former Supreme Court of Justice employee arrested for traffic of influence

A former employee of the Supreme Court of Justice asked and received €40,000 from a citizen of Germany held in Penitentiary No. 9, saying he can influence judicial officials to take a favorable decision for him. He is investigated for traffic of influence, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the citizen of Germany was investigated within the criminal case started against the former head of Penitentiary No. 9, who was accused of misuse of power when allowing a detainee to leave the prison without escort.

The Buiucani Court placed the former Supreme Court of Justice under house arrest. Last week, after he violated the house arrest rules, he was remanded in custody.
