A Chisinau resident aged 32, who was earlier fined for procuring, will be investigated on similar charges. The Centru District Court ordered placing the man under house arrest. A woman aged 30, who has a minor child, was remanded in custody for a 30-day period. Another two young women involved in this case are investigated outside prison, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the criminal group was managed by the 32-year-old man and three young women. The culprits recruited girls to prostitute themselves and then provided clients for them. From each client, the procurers took by about 1,000 lei an hour.

The prosecutors appealed the Centru Court’s decision to place the man under house arrest to the Chisinau Court of Appeals, demanding that he should be held in the remand center during the investigation. In 2006 and 2011, he was convicted of procuring and in both of the cases was only fined.

Under the Criminal Code of Moldova, procuring is punished with a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 lei or two to five years in jail.
