Four people died in country’s waterbodies during two days

At least four people lost their lives the last two days in waterbodies in Moldova. Among them is a 15-year-old minor. Last Sunday, the boy went to swim in the lake in Ignăței village of Rezina district. He went into the water and didn’t came out. Divers recovered his body on the same day, IPN reports.

The same day, a 26-year-old man who was under the influence of alcohol drowned in the lake near Caracui village of Hâncești district. His body was found the next day by divers, at a distance of 3 meters from the shore.

On Monday afternoon, the 112 Service was informed that a young woman who was swimming with a friend in the lake of Ghiliceni village of Telenești disappeared under the water and didn’t surface. Divers who went to the scene found her breathless and pulled her body to the shore. The young woman was 24 years old.

Later that day, a case of drowning was reported in the Raut river, in Brânzenii Vechi village of Telenești district. The victim was a 65-year-old fisherman. His wife discovered him dead, about a meter from the shore, and appealed to locals to pull him out of the water.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations announced for June 5 the launch of the Summer Drowning Prevention Campaign that will take place at the rescue station in “La Izvor “Park of Chisinau. Rescuers will stage a demonstration exercise and will come up with recommendations to avoid high risk situations when swimming. SMURD employees will also demonstrate first aid maneuvers in case of drowning.
