An apartment situated on the fourth floor of a building located in Râșcani district of Chisinau caught fire. Firefighters were on the scene immediately with four firefighting vehicles, IPN reports.



The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that a number of persons from neighboring apartments were evacuated to avoid poisoning with fumes. The fire destroyed goods kept on the balcony and in the kitchen of the apartment.



The firefighters managed to save a cat from the burning apartment. A woman aged 81, who went out of her apartment during the fire, inhaled fumes and was taken to the hospital for medical care. No other persons were hurt.



The cause and circumstances of the fire are yet to be found out.
