Free examinations at Oncology Institute during a week

Those who want to see an oncologist can have free examinations at the Chisinau Oncology Institute in the period between June 1 and June 6, between 8:30am and 3pm. Those who do not have a health policy can also benefit from free tests, IPN reports.

Head of the Institute’s press service Angela Roadideal said that to have a gratis oncological examination this week, the persons do not need a certificate from the family doctor or the medical card. They will come only with the identity card and will schedule an appointment for a primary medical examination. If specific symptoms are detected, the patient will be recommended special examinations, which are yet done for money for persons without a health policy.

The Anticancer Week this year is entitled “A healthy lifestyle for preventing oncological diseases”. The goal of the event is to promote the early detection of oncological diseases and to sensitize the people to the danger of these diseases, which can be cured if they are detected in time.

As many as 8,860 persons were diagnosed with cancer in Moldova in 2014, as against 8,441 a year before. The pulmonary cancer and colorectal cancer prevail among men, with 15.4% and, respectively, 13.5% of the oncological diseases, while the women are more affected by breast cancer (20.7%) and colorectal cancer (12.2%).
