Free mSanatate service launched in Moldova
The HIV-infected persons and those suffering from tuberculosis will be informed and helped though SMSes within the free service mSanatate that was launched on December 20. The service is also intended for pregnant women and fresh mothers. By SMSes, the women will receive different information during pregnancy and the first days of life of the baby, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Attending the launch, Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi said that such a service is a novelty for Moldova. “This modern service enables to inform and supervise the treatment of persons suffering from tuberculosis, especial of persons who are inclined to abandon the treatment,” he stated.
The service mSanatate is now available to the clients of the mobile phone carrier Moldcell. This company’s employees developed special applications for the persons suffering from tuberculosis or infected with HIV. They are guaranteed confidentiality. Only the doctor will be able to decide whether to include the patient in the program or not.
The doctor can recommend including the person in the program, but the patients decided themselves if they want to receive SMSes with announcements that they must take medicines or, in case of pregnant women, with information useful during pregnancy.
The service was designed with the help of the Ministry of Health, the Institute of Health and Medical-Social Assistance, and the Center for Health Policies and Analyses.
