Freestyle wrestler Alexandru Gaidarly becomes European vice-champion

Moldovan freestyle wrestler Alexandru Gaidarly became European vice-champion in the under 20 age category. Before qualifying for the final of the up to 70kg weight category, the athlete defeated the representatives of Italy, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Germany. In the final, he lost only to Magomed Baitukaev, who contended at the continental competition in Novi Sad, Serbia, under neutral colors, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Education and Research said that Alexandru Borș also climbed on to the winner’s rostrum at the U20 European Wrestling Championships. The student of the National Sports High School in the small final of the up to 86kg weight category won against Ukraine’s Pavlo Vaskovskyi.

Another freestyle wrestler, Constantin Buza, in the small final of the up to 97kg weight category lost to Ramini Gulitashvili of Georgia and took the fifth place.

The same result was achieved by Ana-Maria Cretu in the women’s wrestling competition. In the small final of the up to 65kg weight category, she was beaten by Poland’s Alicja Nowosad.

With these results, the national team ranked fifth in the team standings.
