French specialist assesses pandemic flu situation in Moldova
Professor Christian Perronne, the head of the Infectious Diseases Division of Raymond Poincare Hospital and president of the National Public Health Council of France, described the efforts made by the Government of Moldova to prevent and fight the pandemic A(H1N1) influenza as satisfactory. The French specialist had assessed the pandemic flu situation in Moldova between November 7 and 8. Christian Perronne paid the visit to Chisinau following requests made by the Ministry of Health to donor countries and international organizations, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, Christian Perronne came to Moldova to continue his mission initiated in Ukraine as part of a delegation of representatives of the World Health Organization and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
Christian Perronne and representatives of the Embassy of France in Moldova had meetings with the administration and specialists of the Ministry of Health. They discussed the epidemiological situation in the country, the measures taken by the authorities to prevent the spread of the disease and possibilities of obtaining support from the donor community in supplying Moldova with vaccines and the necessary drugs. The French expert confirmed the French Government's readiness to provide assistance to Moldova.
Christian Perronne made assessment visits to the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorba” and the diagnosis laboratory of the National Scientific Practical Center of Preventive Medicine and analyzed the pandemic flu diagnosis and treatment capacities.
