Judges of the Buiucani Court ordered remanding the functionary suspected of unjust enrichment in custody at the National Anticorruption Center for 25 days, IPN reports.

The head of the General Regional Development Division of the Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions was arrested last week on suspicion that he owns property and assets estimated at 6 million lei. This value is much higher than the incomes earned by his family in 2011-2015.

The National Anticorruption Center said the head of the General Regional Development Division is also investigated for abuse of power in another case. He is suspected of influencing inferiors, members of working groups for organizing public tender contests, so that these took decisions in favor of economic operators. The results of a number of tender contests were annulled for groundless reasons and persons close to the suspect were chosen as contest winners.
