Moldovan Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanyi is due to fly to Moscow today in the afternoon to participate in a head of states summit bringing together importers of Russian gas, as well as disputant Russia and Ukraine, Info-Prim Neo reports.
On Saturday morning the Russian media was reporting that the list of those who will participate is not known with exactitude, but Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov earlier said invitations were sent to all the countries affected by the gas row to a greater or lesser extent, not jut the EU consumers.
Ambassadors of the 27-member European bloc decided to delegate Czech Industry Minister Martin Riman and EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs, who conditioned participation on the presence of Ukrainian representatives. Yesterday it was reported that Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko would honor the invitation.
It was also reported that Gazprom on Saturday morning unsuccessfully tried, for the fourth time, to resume gas deliveries to Europe through Ukraine, after closing gas taps on January 7 on accusations that Ukraine had been siphoning off gas from transit pipes. Ukraine's Naftogaz denied the theft allegations, arguing that the resumption of transit was impossible for technical reasons.
