Gatcan and Josan miss Moldova squad training
Moldovan footballers Alexandru Gatcan, currently playing for FC Rostov (Russia), and Nicolae Josan, playing for Anji Mahachkala (Russia), are still expected to join the squad coached by Igor Dobrovolski after they missed the first official training on September 1.
Though the Moldovan Football Federation (MFF) took all the necessary steps so that the duo be freed by their clubs in order to have them play for the squad in the WC 2010 qualifiers, the footballers are today likely to miss the second official training, too.
According to coach Dobrovolski, the duo has acquired the Russian citizenship and that is why their managers wouldn't lent them play for Moldova anymore. The “created precedent” has been denounced on August 29 by the MFF in an open letter to FIFA.
As no official answer has been given so far, Dobrovolski is compelled to reconsider the lineup for the upcoming qualifiers, the first of which is to be held in Tiraspol on September 6 against Latvia.
