German Film Festival opened in Chisinau, rectification

[Rectification to par. 5, read 'Germany' instead of 'France'.] The German Film Festival was opened in Chisinau for the first time. During April 16-22, the moviegoers can watch six films made by famous directors at the Cultural Center “Odeon”. The movies won different prestigious awards, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the opening of the festival on April 16 in the evening, Julia Kahrl, charge d’affaires at the German Embassy in Moldova, invited the spectators to the universe of the contemporary German cinematography. “These movies present the German reality. They feature not only nice blond people and deal with such topics as despair, migration, motherland, love and others,” she said. The program includes the following movies: “On the other side” (2006/07), directed by Fatih Akin, “Beyond silence” (1996), by Caroline Link, “Head-on” (2004), by Fatih Akin, “Nowhere in Africa” (1999), by Caroline Link, “Four minutes” (2006), by Chris Kraus, “The lives of others” (2005/06), by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, and “Goodbye, Lenin!” (2003), by Wolfgang Becker. The films are shown in German with Romanian subtitles. Entrance is free of charge. The event is organized by the Embassy of Germany in Moldova in cooperation with the Cultural Center “Odeon”, the German Center of Culture “Accente” in Chisinau, the Goethe Institute Bucharest and the Goethe Institute Athens.
