During two days the gourmets will be able to eat German frankfurters and French bred within the French-German Cultural Days that will take place in Chisinau on October 22 and 23, Info-Prim Neo reports. The third French-German Cultural Days will have a sports theme - “Wurst (Frankfurter) and Baguette (French Loaf) are Playing in Chisinau”. Julia Kahrl, deputy head of the German Embassy in Chisinau, said the event promotes the French-German friendship. “We want to show how two cultures that were once at war could overcome the misunderstandings and establish fruitful cooperation relations. Moreover, they are a powerful force within the European Union,” she stressed. Diana Dumitru, who is responsible for communication and cultural programs at the French Alliance in Moldova, said the French-German Cultural Days will open at the Cultural Center “Gaudeamus” on October 22. The ambassadors of both of the countries will attend the opening. A football tournament involving Moldovan student teams will take place on Dinamo Stadium in Chisinau on October 23. The spectators will be able to taste frankfurters and French bread and drink German beer. The organizers said that this year they preferred a sports theme owing to the World Cup held in South Africa and the FIFA Women's World Cup that will take place in Germany in 2011. The first French-German Cultural Days held in 2008 had a musical theme, while in 2009 – a cultural theme.
