Germany donates new-gen medical equipment to four Chisinau hospital

Four medical institutions in Chisinau received traumatology, orthopedics and neurosurgery equipment from the German government. Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that the action was part of the effort to modernize medical infrastructure and to improve healthcare services.

Stefan Gatcan, head of the Mother&Child's Center, told IPN that his institution received a medical drill for traumatological purposes and neurosurgical drills. “It's a device our center has lacked and we are happy to receive such presents from the government and from Germany”, he said. The equipment costs 48,000 euros.

Vitalie Mihalcean, vice director in charge of surgery of the Municipal Children's Hospital “Valentin Ignatenco”, told IPN that his hospital also received a multifunctional drill. “We have two traumatology wards, as well as emergency and micro-surgery wards. All the patients from the city and the suburbs come here, that's why we need such equipment and even requested one more piece. Today we have already performed four surgeries and two more are scheduled”, said Mihalcean. The equipment costs 11,000 euros.

The other two beneficiary institutions are the Neurology and Neurosurgery Institute and the Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital.
