Global Compact Network Moldova holds second “Green Day” event
The park in Chisinau's Buiucani district was cleared of leaves and garbage by about 150 employees of 12 companies that are members of the United Nations Global Compact Network in Moldova. The event was carried out as part of a nationwide environment protection campaign with support from the UN Office in Moldova and the Chisinau Green Spaces Association, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The cleaning teams included employees and managers of BC Mobiasbanca-Groupe Societe Generale SA, Bioprotect, FotoRapid, Moldcell, BC Moldova–Agroinbank SA, BC EuroCreditBank SA, Union Fenosa SA, Floare Carpet SA, CEO-Grup, Mentor Grup, Leogrand Hotel & Convention Center, I.C.S Total Leasing SA and the UN Agencies in Moldova.
Eugeniu Josan, the head of the coordination council of the 2009 Global Compact Network in Moldova and deputy head of the law department of BC Moldova-Agroindbank SA, thanked the participants for accepting to do volunteer work. He said this shows that they have high personal and corporate social responsibility, which contributes to the promotion of social partnerships in business.
“No matter what job we do, it is very improvement that we engage in solving the existing problems. The representatives of the UN Agencies took part in all the “Green Day” events because we care about the ecological situation. We want to have a clean city and the residents must have high social responsibility,” said Boris Galca, program coordinator at the United Nations Population Fund.
The national campaign “Go Green” was launched on May 16 this year. Two “Green Day” events have been held as part of the campaign so far. Also, there was formulated and implemented the Ecological Office Code.
