The executive approved the bill on the ensuring of equality after long discussions on May 23, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of Oleg Efrim said the bills aims to ensure the implementation of Article 16 of the Constitution of Moldova and transposes two European directives in the field. Prime Minister Vlad Filat expressed his regret at the fact that the debates on this bill were superficial and did not focus on the law’s goal of eliminating all types of discrimination in society and of guaranteeing equal opportunities for everyone. He proposed including more representatives of civil society in the Council for the Prevention and Combating of Discrimination. The adoption of this law represents a condition imposed by the EU for liberalizing the visa regime and a commitment that refers to the European integration process on the whole, said Vlad Filat.
