The Government approved a bill to sign the Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) concerning the electronic waybill that was formulated in Geneva in February 2008, IPN reports.
Moldova joined this Convention by the Parliament decision of March 2, 1993. The objective of the Additional Protocol is to facilitate the optimal compilation of the waybill for transported goods. The cooperation and coordination between the signatory parties will be optimized with the aim of increasing freight transport by improving the conditions of organizing the transportation process, the legal framework, etc.
So far, the protocol, which is an interstate document, has been ratified by 13 states, namely Austria, Belgium, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Spain, Germany and Italy.
The costs related to the implementation of the Protocol will be covered with money that is annually earmarked in the budget of the Customs Service. The Service already has the information systems needed to optimize the process of issuing and completing the waybill e-CMR.
The bill is to be adopted by Parliament.
