Government negotiates funding for Confidence Building Measures Program

The Moldovan Government has initiated negotiations with the European Union on a financing agreement for the Confidence Building Measures Program, Info-Prim Neo reports. It is planned that under the Program 13.1 million euros granted by the European Union and the UNDP will be directed to the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. The Program consists of 3 components: technical assistance, support to local development, and support to civil society. Attention will also be paid to infrastructure development, in particular in the health care sector. Additionally, the Program will support cooperation between businesses on the two sides of the Nistru. The European Union is expected to contribute 12 million euros to the Program and the UNDP a further 1.1 million euros. The financing agreement will enter into effect on the signing date and will cover a time-frame between 2012 and 2015.
