Romania will offer humanitarian aid in the form of food products and crude oil to Moldova. Such a decision was taken by the Government of Romania on February 18, in response to a request made by the Moldovan authorities, IPN reports.
According to the Romanian Government’s press service, the humanitarian aid to the value of over 16.6 million Romanian lei (over 83m Moldovan lei) includes basic food products such as flour, sugar, maize, rice, pasta, pâté, canned meat and vegetables as well as crude oil.
While in Bucharest on a visit on January 26, Prime Minister Pavel Filip presented the socioeconomic context in which the Government of Moldova started work, calling on Romania to offer assistance. Afterward, on February 10, by a letter addressed to Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, the Moldovan Premier asked the Romanian authorities to provide humanitarian aid to support the socially deprived families affected by the difficult economic situation in Moldova.
