Prime Minister Pavel Filip called on the representatives of the local public authorities of Leova district to submit initiatives that would improve the living conditions of locals, assuring them they will be assisted by the central public administration to implement these. The statement was made in the common meeting of the governmental team and representatives of the local public authorities that was held in Leova district on July 13, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the discussions centered on a number of problems, some of which were solved on the spot. It was decided to open a rescue and firefighting service in Sarateni village. The meeting also discussed the necessity of repairing the health center in Iargara and of building the Leova-Bumbata bridge over the Prut. Pavel Filip said the last subject will be discussed in the common meeting of the Governments of Moldova and Romania that is to take place soon. The local representatives complained about the poor transport service, the shortage of teachers and medical staff, insufficient subsidization of farmers and asked to construct a regional agro-industrial market.
The Premier spoke about the main Government reforms designed to improve the business climate and ensure financial stability and about the social sector reforms. “The pensions and salaries are yet low, but are raised within possibilities. The average salary last year rose by 12% and the average pension also increased. We will continue to work. The people should feel the economic growth themselves,” stated Pavel Filip. He also reminded about the measures taken to secure the borders by instituting joint control, including on the Transnistrian segment, and to ensure energy security.
“Authorities’ efforts remain aimed at improving the infrastructure in communities. Through the program “Good Roads for Moldova”, over 22 km of road were rehabilitated in Leova district at a cost of over 36 million lei,” said Pavel Filip. In this connection, the representatives of local authorities underlined the necessity of repairing the Leova-Leuseni road. The Premier requested to include this in the list of priority roads that are to be reconstructed in the future.
