The Bucharest-based Polish Institute in partnership with the Union of Plastic Artists of Moldova and the Exhibition Center “Brancusi” opened an exhibition of drawings by the Polish artist Malgorzata Dmitruk on March 6, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Childhood”, “Family”, “Faith”, the concerns about the past through present perspectives are only several of the themes that the young artist depicts in her works. Malgorzata Dmitruk uses graphic techniques to portray her own experiences as well as fragments from the collective memory of her place of birth, a small Polish town called Bieslk Podalski. The drawings capture by their simplicity and originality. Beyond apparent simplicity, every work carries a deep philosophic message.
At the opening of the exhibit, Tudor Braga, the director of the Exhibition Center “Brancusi”, said that Malgorzata Dmitruk does not use complicated symbols, but only signs that enable to recognize the tradition to which the artist makes reference. The power of her pictures resides in the material and sensorial particularities of the color, in the intensity of nuances. Tudor Braga stressed that the graphic works are much more economical as regards the color. According to him, the lithographic works of Malgorzata Dmitruk contain details of a documentary. Such details make up graphic cycles that remember of animated cartoons.
The young artist created her own language, a means of artistic expression which is a little severe, sometimes distorted. Malgorzata Dmitruk has told Info-Prim Neo that all her works display humor even if the themes of the drawings are rather serious, sometimes dramatic, representing cycles of life. The author says that it is very important to look at the people from a position of simplicity and open-mindedness, employing humor and self-irony. The humor is present in all the works of the artist. Malgorzata Dmitruk also makes paintings, unique fabrics, illustrations and designs clothes.
Forty-four works by the Polish artist are displayed at the Exhibition Center “Brancusi”. The exhibit will close on March 28.
