Starting at 3pm, the Chisinau shopping center Shopping MallDova offers the women the possibility of having a gratis mammography test even if they have no symptoms. A mobile digital mammography van was brought to the center and a team of doctors are ready to examine those who want and to provide information about breast cancer, IPN reports.
Larisa Sofroni, coordinator of the Breast Oncology Department of the Oncology Institute, said the mobile mammography van will provide services until late evening and the women can have free examinations without having recommendation from the doctor. The test is recommended to women aged between 40 and 69, who are considered the risk group, but those younger than 40 can also have a control test.
The gratis service is provided in the context of an awareness raising campaign titled “I didn’t do enough”. Its message is “Please, go to have a test. I suffer too when you suffer”. The campaign is carried out in October, which is worldwide dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.
This month, the national medical institutions have distributed brochures and informative materials about breast cancer and urged the women to have examinations regularly so as to prevent complications.
Singer Igor Cuciuc joined the campaign. He told a news conference that he supports the social breast cancer combating campaign and called on the mothers, sisters and wives to have a test. He said that there were no cases of cancer in his family and thanked God for this.
From 8pm this evening until 5 am, the building of the Oncology Institute will be illuminated pink as a symbol of the fight against cancer.
