Grenade threat linked to disclosures in criminal case
A former deputy warden who discovered a tripwire grenade in his car this morning is guessing it might be related to disclosures he made as a witness in a criminal case. Albert Puiu has told Info-Prim Neo that he received a number of threat calls before what he believes was an attempt on his life.
Puiu says that during his tenure as deputy director of Penitentiary no.13 he revealed multiple illegalities in the correctional system. Now he is a key witness in a criminal case that involves 14 correctional officers as suspects.
“It was a miracle I survived the attempt”, said Puiu, adding that it was a call from his wife that saved him. This gave him a moment when he was opening the car door to see the stretched tripwire that led to the explosive.
The Ministry of the Interior confirmed the grenade was not a fake. The device was rendered harmless and given to the investigator.
Anyone with information about this case are asked by the police to call 022446100, 022542063 or 902.
