The former officer of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime Grigore Gorea will be reemployed in the law enforcement bodies about six years after he tendered his resignation. Known for the startling revelations he made about the legal cases opened by order, Gorea has told Info-Prim Neo's reporter that he is to be named head of the Procedure Control Service of the General Police Commissariat's Criminal Investigation Division.
In December 2004, Grigore Gorea revealed the 'ambulances case' that involved the former mayor of Chisinau Serafim Urecheanu and former secretary of the Chisinau Municipal Council Vladimir Sarban was fabricated by order of the Communist administration of the country. In 2006, Gorea gave testimony over this case in court.
On December 12, 2004, Grigore Gorea resigned from the post as he refused to obey the order to arrest Serafim Urecheanu. Two months later, Gorea was arrested and held in custody for six months. The case against him closed in 2001 was reopened.
On June 7, 2005, Grigore Gorea lodged an application with the ECHR, complaining about the inhuman and degrading treatment to which he was subjected and about his illegal detention and investigation. In 2007, the Court obliged the Government of Moldova to pay €11,500 damages and court costs.
Grigore Gorea said that while he will hold the new position he will attentively monitor the quality of the investigations and will not allow fabricating evidence.
