The State Hydrometeorological Service has announced a yellow code advisory for ground frost for the period between October 14 and 19. Nighttime temperatures will decrease to -1 … -3 degrees Celsius all over the country.

Head of the Service’s Meteorology Division Lidia Treshchilo has told IPN that the frosts are normal for this period of the year, but they could affect some of the crops that are gathered late in autumn. “The frosts pose a threat to the late sorts of apples and grapes,” she stated.

On October 13, the rain will stop, but the wind will continue to blow and the roads could partially become dry. Lidia Treshchilo said a layer of ice is not expected to form on roads, if only on muddy sections.

The National Patrolling Inspectorate calls on the drivers to be maximally prudent and attentive on the road. They are recommended to reduce the travelling speed given that the roadway is wet, to keep a sufficiently long distance from the vehicles moving ahead of them and to clean the windscreen, rear-view mirror and lateral windows so as to ensure good visibility.

The pedestrians are urged not to jaywalk and to make sure that drivers see them when they cross the street.
