Guidebook about Moldovan area of the Danube made public

The Association for the Development of Tourism in Moldova has launched a guidebook about the situation of the tourism sector in the Moldovan area of the Danube, which includes the districts Cahul, Cantemir, Taraclia and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. The guide is intended for tourists and guests of the area as well as for museum guides, the local authorities and the managers of tourist attractions.

In a news conference at IPN on January 29, the Association’s head Viorel Miron said the guidebook was worked out in a move to fill the information gap about one of the most interesting destinations in Moldova. It is located near the largest European river and includes the largest natural lakes, one of the biggest natural reserves and the greatest ethnic and cultural diversity in the country.

Viorel Miron stated that the book will be printed in 1,000 copies and will be distributed free to all the museums and libraries of the Moldovan area of the Danube as well as to persons interested in tourism in this area at national and regional exhibitions.

The guidebook has six chapters that refer to the general situation in the area and to the state of tourism there. It also presents information about the management of the flow of visitors and models of tourist information centers and museums in the area. The annexes contain two recommended tourist routes in the Moldovan area of the Danube and the coordinates of all the museums situated there.

According to the data furnished by the Association for the Development of Tourism in Moldova, more than 184,000 foreigners visit annually the Moldovan area of the Danube, crossing the customs posts in this area.
