Gynecologist seeks recompense of 4,000 lei for surgery
A gynecologist working at a hospital in Chisinau was arrested on suspicion that he asked for illegal recompense of 4,000 lei for performing a surgery, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime.
The arrest was made in the doctor’s office. The money marked ‘bribe’ was yielded up voluntarily. The gynecologist faces a fine of 4,000 to 8,000 lei or up to two years in jail.
The anticorruption officers also arrested a lawyer from Soroca, who is suspected of traffic of influence. She asked for and received €500 from a company manager for making a judge of the Soroca court to pass judgment in favor of the manager. The lawyer is liable to a fine of 20,000 to 60,000 lei or two to six years’ imprisonment.
The Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime has investigated 12 cases of traffic of influence since the start of 2012.
