Harsher penalties for violating rules of bearing arms

The Government approved amendments and supplements to a number of legal acts by which it made the penalties for violating the rules of bearing arms harsher, IPN reports.

Thus, for not observing the rules of keeping, bearing and transporting arms, the person could be deprived of the right to bear arms for a period of up to five years.

The gun could be also withdrawn if the deadline for extending the permit or the method of selling firearms is violated. A fine of up to 3,000 lei will also be imposed in these cases.

The period during which a person is banned from bearing arms is to be extended to five years, up from three months at present.

The bill is to be examined and adopted by Parliament.
