The mandatory health insurance premium in the form of percentage contribution paid from the salary and other recompenses remains 9% for next year. Of this, 4.5% is the contribution of the employer and 4.5% is the contribution of the employee. The fixed premium will also not change and will be 4,056 lei. Those who will purchase a health policy by April 1 will benefit from a 50% reduction, as now. The reduction for farmland owners is of 75%.

The executive approved the mandatory health insurance funds law for 2018 on November 21, IPN reports. The National Health Insurance Company expects that the number of those who will buy a health policy will rise to 47,000. In general, the revenues and spending of the mandatory health insurance funds for 2018 were projected at 6 669 025.2 billion lei. About 94% of the money will go to the basic fund for covering current costs associated with the purchase of medical services.

The financial resources earmarked for compensated medicines are to be raised by about 15% given that the list of these drugs was extended and schemes for treating diseases with compensated drugs were elaborated.
