Health Ministry confirms first H1N1 death
A commission set up to investigate the death of a 50-year-old man last week has confirmed the cause was the H1N1 novel flu, the Ministry of Health announced Tuesday in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
This makes it the first H1N1 death to be registered in Moldova since the start of the pandemic.
The man was admitted to hospital on October 20, with severe symptoms, ten days after his return from Poland. He died three days after admission.
All 51 persons who came in contact with the man are under constant supervision, the ministry assured. Other 15 cases have been previously recorded, but none of them lethal.
