Health Ministry purchases over 2,800 endoprostheses for 2020-2021

As many as 2,854 endoprostheses (1,060 for knees and 1,794 for hips), which will be used to perform surgeries in 2020-2021, were bought by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection through the agency of the Center of Centralized Health Procurement. The endoprostheses are intended for person put on waiting lists, IPN reports.

The waiting lists will be handled by the National Health Insurance Company through the agency of an electronic platform. This way, transparency will be ensured in adding and removing persons from the list, the Ministry noted in a press release.

There will be specified a method for hastening the operations if medical indications are presented, issued on the recommendation of the specialist of the local medical institution. The new regulations will take effect when they are published in the Official Gazette.

Endoprosthetizing services are provided both by public and private health facilities.

According to the data for 2018, the waiting lists included 14,000 persons in need of knee and hip endoprostheses.
